MRT Owners Talks with Mayor Duterte Regarding MRT Problems

The owners of the Metro Rail Transit (MRT), MRT Holdings, Inc. chairman Robert Sobrepena revealed during an interview with CNN Philippines that they have already talked with the group of Mayor Duterte about the solution to MRT issues encountered daily by millions of passengers in Metro Manila.

According to MRT Chairman Robert Sobrepena they hold a dialouge with Mayor Duterte, the mayor was definitely on board in resolving the problems of the MRT.

The MRT owners noted that they wants a fast-track rehabilitation of the MRT and find a way to bring back the original maintenance provider of MRT, Sumitomo to do the rehab and maintenance, upgrade the system by providing an additional 96 trains and build the Monumento station.

The project will costs up to $700 million under a build-lease transfer agreement without a single centavo budget from the national government under the Duterte administration.
