PNP Chief Dela Rosa Warns 911 Prank Callers to Stop or Else
The Philippine National Police (PNP) Chief Director General Ronald M. Dela Rosa warned all Hotline 911 to stop or refrain from doing prank calls to the newly-instituted nationwide Emergency Hotline 911.
According to Gen. Dela Rosa, he will do everything to unmasked all the prank callers to 911 and punished them for what they did.
The PNP Chief also appeals to the Filipino public especially to all prank callers not to test our 911 hotline because this will clog up the lines and prevent the people with real emergencies to reach 911.
Gen. Dela Rosa revealed that right now the PNP tracks the prank callers and will make sure that they will be unmasked. The statement of Gen. Dela Rosa was made after reports that the Emergency Hotline recorded a total of 2,475 calls with only 75 of them were legitimate.
Out of the 2,475 calls, 1,119 were considered dropped calls and 304 were recorded as prank calls.
In order to discourage prank callers some sources revealed that authorities would record the numbers of the prankster and request to the NTC to disable their simcards and phones immediately to punish them.
The Nationwide Emergency Hotline 911 could also adopt the success in Davao City. In Davao City Central 911, Mayor Rody Duterte announced the telephone numbers of the pranksters in his weekly TV Program "Gikan sa Masa, Para sa Masa," but right now the situation is different, the President lacks time, the administration is planning for new ways to resolve this problem and one of them is the implementation of the National ID System.
